COSTA is a proud affiliate of the Community College Association (CCA). The Community College Association, with CTA and NEA as partners, advocates for faculty, empowers locals, builds strong and effective coalitions, and fights to preserve quality education.

CCA and COSTA operate under the umbrella of the California Teachers Association. CTA was founded in 1863 as the California Educational Society by state schools superintendent John Swett with fewer than 100 members, all male. What a difference 150 years makes. With 325,000 members, CTA now is the most inclusive & most powerful voice of educators in the state.
NEA, the National Education Association
Our voice in Washington is the National Education Association. The NEA, the nation's largest professional employee organization, is committed to advancing the cause of public education. NEA's 3 million members work at every level of education—from pre-school to university graduate programs. NEA has affiliate organizations in every state and in more than 14,000 communities across the United States.
