2019 CCA Fall Conference

COSTA Leaders and Members thinking about leadership roles:

The 2019 CCA Fall Conference is October 11-13 in San Jose and offers a lot of opportunity to network and learn about member-oriented issues and advocacy. This particular conference is geared strictly toward community college faculty. The tentative workshops list includes:

·         Advocacy Skills During Investigatory Interviews (Weingarten Rights)

·         Building an Equity-Minded Faculty

·         Cultivating Positive Relationships with Your Board of Trustees

·         Drug Culture and Effect on Community College Members: Faculty, Staff and Students

·         Retirement Decisions

·         Setting Up a Dreamer Resource Center

·         Social Media

Fall 2019 CCA Conference

COSTA is allowed at least 4 delegates (and possibly as many as 8), which means between CTA and COSTA all delegate expenses will be reimbursed, including travel to and from the conference as long as you are there for the whole conference. Family can come and for a small fee can join you at meals all weekend. These conferences not only help us help our members, they provide valuable training on legal issues and networking with other CCA chapters. Tracy and I have gained valuable connections and knowledge from these conferences and I urge you to consider an expense-paid weekend to see for yourself. Anyone considering a COSTA leadership role should try to attend at least one CCA conference.

If you wish to register, you can do so at this website: 2019 CCA Fall Conference. You will still need to book the hotel room yourself at a discounted rate of $119/night.
